How to Reuse Your Resin Cups

Minimizing Waste

Working with resin can can be good messy fun! However, we should always cut down on waste whenever possible. The good news is, you can actually reuse your resin mixing cups! Just follow simple steps below and you can reuse your mixing cups over and over again, keeping them out of the landfill and saving you some cash in the process.

Leave a Stick in it

The best cups to get are made from polypropylene like these little medicine cups. Mark one cup "A", the other "B", pouring into a third cup to mix. Combine well with a pop stick, stirring slowly to avoid air bubbles. Once you're done casting, set aside the cup with the pop stick still sitting inside.

Once fully cured, squeeze the sides of the cups to loosen and pull out the pop stick. This will usually remove the majority of the resin in one piece.

Getting the Stubborn Bits

There may be a few small pieces of resin remaining around inside or on the outer rim of the cup. Wrap your fingers in sticky tape to pull any leftovers from the plastic surface. Alternatively, push in a piece of packing tape. Repeat as needed until all of your cups are clean, then simply set aside for reuse in the future.

Another Option for Mixing Resin

Another great option that can be easily purchased online are silicone mixing cups. These are available in a range of sizes to choose from, at very reasonable prices. Cured resin will not stick to silicone and is easily peeled off. Silicone mats make great work surfaces also, I highly recommend getting to help keep your mess to a minimum. Have fun getting creative and happy mixing!
